OMG Dakotah just choked on a cookie!!!!

I've never been so scared in my life....I heard her choke then start screaming and choking and I grabbed her and pounded her back trying to get it out...She gagged and choked and screamed and finally she got it down...omg I've never been so scared....I'm shaking and crying right now...

She cried for awhile afterwards, you don't think there was any damage done to her throat or anything???

First off, I'm glad she's okay. It's beyond terrifying when it happens. (((HUGS)))

The two times Caleb choked, he was fine afterwards, it was me (one time, then the other DH) that were shaken.

I'm so sorry to hear that Judi! My son has BHS (Breath Holding Spells) and the first time he did it I thought he was choking and I FUH-REAKED OUT! He came to just after I got the 911 operator and she heard him start crying. It's such a scary feeling when it happens b/c you feel like its happening right in front of you but its YOU that has to do something, kinda like a 3rd person thing. Its awful. Glad she's ok!!

OMG I know how scary that is!!! But yeah, like Sally said, always hit their backs while upside down (that is, if you didn't).

Anyway, I'm glad she's ok - choking is so scary and it happens so fast!

Re: OMG Dakotah just choked on a cookie!!!!

That's close to what I've done-- on my arm-- like they're riding it face down if that makes sense-- my hand supporting the neck-chin-- head is lower than the body, then used an open hand (my palm). I know that makes no sense.....

I spent years and years in daycares and similar situations-- all the certification and courses, it still scared me.
