Diaper Swappers

She doesn't seem to have a fever, no other symptoms at all really. However, she is always only in her undies here at the house and it is just 21 outside, so even if she had a low grade temp, I maybe wouldn't notice. I also haven't noticed her scratching, but my mom said she did notice it some yesterday. I plan to call her pedi first thing in the AM to get it confirmed one way or the other. That way I will know whether we need to put our trip off and also whether I need to contact all the other parents that had kids at the party.

give her a warm bath. They will come out in the warmth. My older ds had them when he was 6 mos old and they 1st appeared in his diaper area, I thought it was a rash. Do NOT use cortizone on her, its a steroidal cream and can make them worse. I'd just do an oatmeal bath as well and tell her hands off or she can scar them and make them open and infected. Its the 'juice' inside the spots that makes them contagious.

So do I want to bring them out, then? She still doesn't have anymore, but definitely is scratching today. Will bringing them out help it go faster?

Looks like CP to me!

I don't know about speeding it up...can't hurt to try. But when my sibs and I got it (almost 20 years ago...eek I'm old!) my sister got them first after bringing them home from school. My brother and I didn't break out til almost 2weeks later. Mostly I remember how itchy I was. Trim their fingernails and file the edges so they can't break the skin when they scratch--I still have scars.

it usually starts at the back of the neck like that
15 yrs ago (I'm really old), I had 3 kiddos with it at the same time (luckily) because the incubation period is 2 wks +
warm oatmeal baths and light cotton clothing helped to keep them comfortable
If you need to take her to the clinic or ER, call first. I took the youngest in because she had a horrible case - it in her mouth and nose and the nurses freaked out that we could be exposing everyone. Which is a valid concern.

She should have a fever at some point and some of them that arent scabbed should have a pus like yellowish stuff in them.

My oldest 2 had them when they were 5 and 3. They got them from a bday party. Then 2 weeks later my 6 month old broke out with some. He did not have them very bad though and is now 8. None of my others have had them and I have actually been wishing they would be exposed. I want to make sure Seth doesn't get them again because his case was just so light. I have always wondered...

I hope she gets over them soon. As for your 7 month old. I wouldn't worry too much. They didn't seem to bother my baby much at all!!

We have an appt with the pedi at 1:30 CST so I will update after we get back. I am getting ready to throw her in the bath (she needs a haircut) so we will see if that does anything.

It's better that she get them now than later (think about when she's in school?! that would be worse.. think about when she's a teenager.. LOTS WORSE)

I'd be angry for not being told that someone had something, but I wouldn't be angry that my child caught it.

I WANT my child to catch it though..
Too bad you don't live in washington.. I'd come over for a playdate. lol

I had a couple spots on me when I got them.. and that was it. The doctor Assumed that's what it was because i was playing with 2 little girls that had them. (unknowing to my mom and the girl's mom that they had it. LOL)

yeah, Id give her warm baths to get the breakout done and over with.
I remember when I had to take ds to the Ped to confirm it was the Pox and they had me sneak in the back door so I didnt expose the whole waiting room. lol

thanks for the update, did they tell you about exposing the waitingroom of people to it? like pp said, i didnt even think about that..lol
