Re: Any recipes for Hot and Sour Soup?

Here is my fave!!!

Delish Vegan Hot and Sour Soup

8 cups "chicken" or veggie broth
1-2 tablespoons red chili powder
1/2 block tofu (i used extra firm) cut into small cubes
1/2 cup matchstick or jullienned carrots
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1 cup sliced mushrooms
4 tablespoons Braggs or soysauce
2 teaspoons sugar (i used beet sugar)
1/4 cup cornstarch dissolved in some water
2 teaspoons hot sesame oil (optional)
4 tablespoons white vinegar
wakame (optional) to taste

Boil the red chili powder, tofu, mushrooms, and carrots in the broth for ten to fifteen minutes. Stir in the soy sauce, sugar, salt, pepper, vinegar, and wakame.

Add the dissolved cornstarch to the soup. Remove the soup from the heat as soon as it has thickened. Gently stir in the hot sesame oil (or add to individual bowls, per taste).

Source of recipe: Got the recipe from its called Hot and Sour Soup for Small Families.

Makes: 6 servings, Preparation time: 15 min, Cooking time: 15 min
