Re: S/O Have you ever called CPS on someone?

While it is very important to me, I would never put more effort into its safety than my daughter's. This preshool is in a church. I was coming out and saw the baby. I won't change my stance on this but I hope maybe a few people who would leave a little baby in a car alone will.Almost forgot to add, there are other things that can happen while a baby is alone. He could have an object and choke, like off of one those hanging carseat toys for example.

Re: S/O Have you ever called CPS on someone?
Haven't, but wondered last year if it would end yo being necessary. I had a girl in my class (pre-K) who had a cigarette burn on her face, but said she had accidentally run into her aunt's cigarette. WTF? So I took her to the director and ran the story by her. She talked to mom, I think, and mom gave the same story so the director didn't call it in because it 'was an accident, the girl ran into it without looking.' I am still not convinced. It was right on her cheek.

Re: S/O Have you ever called CPS on someone?
Pumkinsmommy- Just wanted to apologize b/c I know you are wondering why everyone keeps referencing the calling regarding the car incident. Earlier in one of my postings I referenced it as well... I was thinking it was the title of this thread, which is specifically why I referenced it. I was wrong about that though; although it was the reason for the thread (first post), it wasn't the actual thread topic/question.
Anyway, sorry about that! (And did you have any idea when you asked the question that you were going to start such a lively discussion? Kudos to getting us sahm minds working... my threads never get more than one or two responses! )

When I answered the question in the post, what had just happened came to my mind. I skipped a few spaces so it would be sep. from my answer. I don't mind when anyone disagrees with something I say. This forum is about getting different points of view. Rarely, if ever directed at me, can I understand the mean spiritness of some posters. Twisting things to fit the persons argument just isn't nice. But I find most of the mommies on this board to be really great so it doesn't ruin for me. Thank you so much for saying something though - it leaves me with that warm fuzzy feeling.

Re: S/O Have you ever called CPS on someone?
I had it called on my (ex) and I once. We were getting the kids ready for daycare, it was about 5 in the morning and one of the twins stuck a barbie doll on the heater (we had an old school heater in our apartment). We told them to go to the playroom while we cleaned it up. It was smoking and burning and smelled awful. The 3 year old hit the 4 year old in the face with a book. We checked it out and she seemed fine, so we sent them to daycare. I got a call from work, from their dad and he was hysterical. I guess the 4 year old told them that daddy had punched her in the face when they asked why her nose was bleeding. I think she must have bumped it again or it swelled up or something, but it looked fine when we sent her. They wouldn't release her to him, so I had to go and get her. CPS interviewed all of us and I explained that the night before she had an accident in her pants and got very upset. My ex had to lay her on the floor to clean her up, she was screaming and rolling all over the place. She had told the daycare lady he threw her on the floor and punched her in the face. It got cleared up after they talked to the 4 year old again, this was before him or I was allowed to talk to her. She told them that her brother had hit her and that the night before Daddy had her on the floor and she was real upset she had messed her pants.
We still met with the CPS lady once a week and took the parenting classes they suggested. The case was unfounded, of course, but we still did everything we could. I've called CPS on their biomom before. There was some sexual abuse and some severe neglect/abuse going on, but nothing was ever done. When we finally got custody of them (one of the kids was receiving speech therapy) the therapist cried because she said the difference in the kid was so wonderful and that when she went to biomoms house they were often filthy and she'd see them playing outside in just diapers and nothing else...We live in NY, so come September, October, etc...it gets pretty cold out. Biomom had CPS called on her a lot and they never did anything. They would suggest she take classes and she never did, but nothing ever came from it. We have a case open in a local town right now about a 2 year old boy who was beat to death by his father. CPS was involved and there was a restraining order against the dad, he wasn't suppose to be around the kid, but biomom just left him there. The result was the kid was molested by biomoms (registered/convicted sex offenders) boyfriend and beat to death by the biofather. So yes CPS is overworked and underpaid, but it's no excuse to not do your job. When they are repeatedly sent to a house and neglect/abuse is found, what good does it say to "suggest you take a class"?? A 2 year old boy is dead because no one did their job beyond suggesting they take a parenting class. CPS is a joke. They had no trouble being in my exes and I's world, but when a little boy is being beat to death and sexually abused they do nothing? |

You said in the OP you went into the school ... schools are typically public places with other parents, students & teachers ... I'm sure you can see why I would draw the conclusion that other people could hear.
I'm lazy there, too!
