Shoes for a toddler?

Hey all!

I can't decide whether or not I should buy hard soled shoes for my one year old. I have heard that he should stay in soft shoes for two years.

Does anyone have any have any advice?

Thanks

I would recommend See Kai Run
http://www.seekairun.com/
Livie and Luca
http://www.livieandluca.com/
Pediped
http://www.pediped.com/home/home.aspx

I would keep your child in SS shoes while in the house, but Flexible soles for going out of the house and I would DEFINITELY recommend any of these companies... See Kai Run and Livie and Luca are AMAZING!
You may also want to check out Stride Rite! Good Luck

My DD wore See Kai Run shoes from the time she was up and moving around (12 months) until they became too wide for her feet to wear (16 months). Now (27 months) and for the last 10 months or so, she's been wearing Stride Rite shoes, for the most part.

She has long, skinny feet and is outside all the time.

Rowin is 18 months and still in SS shoes when he goes outside. He wears the Robeez size 24 months. I want to keep him in SS for as long as possible, its better for their arch support and foot developement.

Re: Shoes for a toddler?

I never had a problem putting my LOs in harder soled shoes once they were well into walking/running. I live in the northeast and I wouldn't want them outside in the winter in soft soles once they're walkers. But yeah, inside the house we tend to stay in soft soles. I just got the Ministar fur boots from Target the other day and they look so comfy!

We used the regular mini star shoes until at least 2yo, mainly because I'm picky about shoes and I just really didn't like the looks of most little boy shoes until they were in sz 7.

Re: Shoes for a toddler?

I just asked my very natural minded Ped about this. He told me that it is best for them to be in hard soled shoes because the bones in babies feet are soft.... Now I on off to find more info

Geez! I just spent 20 minutes looking for a non opinion related article and could find the above link.

I think I am just going to look for a well fitting, seasonally correct shoe that is cute and not too expensive.

Love love love Livie & Luca!
My son will only wear those or crocs because they are light & flexible. We put him in a DC Shoe Co skate shoe and he acted like he was stuck to the ground! So funny!
Jason has Elephant low tops & Owl "hoots" boots high tops for winter.
