We are still in disposables at night, since DS is still breastfeeds right before bed, and once during the night. I'm afraid to try cloth at night because I don't know if I can use a solution that can hold everything AND have him feel dry. Plus, a cloth night dipe would be much bulkier than a disposable, and it just wouldn't fit under his sleeper. Maybe it'll be easier once we night wean...
So... I was wondering why others use sposies at night... have you tried cloth at night and it didn't work (please share!).

I just started CD'ing, so please bear with me!

I use sposies at night because my daughter wakes up at four and wants to stay up after she wakes up from being wet. If we put her in a sposie, she sleeps all night until 7 (seven months old). I am a full time student and three extra hours of sleep is worth a sposie every night! I have cloth diapered three children mostly all full time except at night. All of them slept better in disposables! I only use a pack every three weeks ago, and my mother in law buys them, so really worth it for our lifestyle!
I don't use sposies at night, because we started out doing that and had leaks at night regularly. I figured we had nothing left to lose, so I tried a FuzziBunz with 2 inserts stuffed inside and we didn't have any leaks. I do have special fitted diapers that I use for night-time and we never have any leaks or nighttime wakings because of wetness.
If you try it one night on a weekend, you'll get some idea of how much absorbency you need and can experiment.

I ended up in a situation where I had to buy a pack of sposies. We were away from home and the group went on without me and forgot they had my diaper bag. Long story, but I had to buy some pampers and wipes so I could change DS. After that I was thinking "Well, we have them so maybe we can just use them at night and cut down on diaper laundry a little." It was really awful, though! Sure they were more absorbent for liquids, but I never had a problem with absorbency as long as I put in a booster with cloth. Sure they kept his skin dry, but if I put a fleece liner in my cloth that does the same thing. But they would leak terribly when DS pooed. I'd have to change him right away when he woke up in the morning or he'd end up with a blowout up his back, staining his clothes and likely getting all over my arm. He even did this once in our bed and now we have an orange stain on our nice sheets!
I gave the rest of those Pampers away today.

I chose both because cloth leaked and was too bulky. In order for the diaper to survive the night without leaking it had to be super bulky. DD could hardly even walk and it looked uncomfortable to lie with her back arched that way.
I put "other" because we just switched from sposies at night to cloth. Yay! Three kids and 4 years later, I got brave enough to try. LOL. We found a method that works great first try: RRP made with cheap fleece on the inside layer to wick wetness away, stuffed with 1 Costco microfiber towel (16 x16)and 1 infant prefold, and a Bummis SWW for a cover. Not too bulky, no leaks, and dry little booty.
All the night time diaper threads on here is what gave me the courage to give it a try. Looking back, I can't believe I waited so long...
We use sposies at night bc cloth leaked with DD #1 & I'm too chicken to try again. Every once & a while I get the urge to try cloth at night, but I always reconsider when I think of having to change a wet baby, crib, jammies, etc. I'm making peace with the idea that sposies have their place & can be used at times without guilt!!

I've successfully CD at night with my first two, but my third is in s posies at night because he is a super pee-er! LOL I MAY have found a solution (1 prefold trifolded within another prefold, which gets snappied, and a mircrofleece on top of both pfs so the urine is wicked away from his skin). It worked the one night we tried it, although it was super bulky. He didn't wake up with clothes soaked or a red bum though! I'm thinking of buying some hemp or bamboo fleece prefolds and seeing how those work so I only have to use ONE. I'm just cheap and haven't gotten around to it yet, LOL

Insufficient Glandular Tissue won't stop me!
I have been using sposies at night...I agree some pp's that they cloth dipes are really bulky with more than one insert in them. I have used cloth at nighttime before and still do sometimes, but she is a heavy wetter, so she leaks a lot of the time. I also did it to cut down on diaper laundry...I still go through several cloth diapers a day.
