Petroleum jelly really bad for CDs?

So is it really true that petroleum jelly won't easily come out of natural fiber cloth diapers?? (Forgive me if this is a stupid question.) I've been looking at Grandma El's diaper rash cream and it says it's "endorsed" by Happy Heinys. It also has petroleum jelly as one of the main ingredients.

My babe has his first real diaper rash and I'm trying to figure out the best way to address it. Will fleece liners really keep his bum drier? I'm using Burts Bees diaper cream and changing him frequently, but am not seeing an improvement...

I don't know if its bad or not, but Id buy the triple paste cream, you can buy it anywhere, its the only thing that clears up my little ones diaper rashes. Just use a fleece liner.
Hope the bum feels better soon, oh and just use baby soap and water to clean his diaper area, anything else always seems to make my LO's rash worse.

I use regular petroleum jelly in the tube found in the baby section at night and the creamy version during the day. I only put on a little and rub it in, not caked on. I put California Baby in the diaper bag for the sitter, though. I use only prefolds and flats, no problems.

With my son, he would get a rash if the urine was next to his skin. Using a stay-dry pocket or a fleece liner solved the problem.

Have you switched detergents recently? That could also be the culprit.

No, I haven't switched detergents. I have started using a little vinegar in the rinse before the last rinse, but I would think it's all gone--the dipes don't smell like vinegar. I did eat half a grapefruit the other day and I don't think I've had one since he's been born.
