Pinning Newb - Help!

I have 3 sbish multi fitteds that have no closure. The Snappi's don't work great with them. I want to try the pin but I don't even know where to start.

any tips for getting comfortable?

Re: Pinning Newb - Help!

These swell when wet an make taking the pin out hard. I store my pins open and stuck in a bar of soap. They glide into fabric better and remove easier too which makes it easier to change and less chance for pricking. (Heard this tip from a great grandma) also I fold the front under instead if down. Less fabric to have to pin through but still allows you to grab the main rise portion so it doesn't sag.

I dont have sbish fitteds (or any fitteds) but I agree with keeping your pins "lubricated". My grandma also suggested a bar of soap, but also, if your on the run just running the pin on your scalp will allow hair oils on the pin and it will glide easily (this has been suggested to me my multiple older women aswell)

Re: Pinning Newb - Help!

oh my! So getting dd ready for bed tonight. The normal diaper combination is not available in her room. I see the shish sitting there ready for bed that I've been trying to will myself to try for a couple days. I go for it and lay it down under her, then I notice that I don't have any snappi's upstairs. ug. So grab the pin. IT WORKED. I couldn't believe it on the first try. I forgot the hair trick so it could have used some lube but I got it in and it didn't fall off. Hopefully tonight goes well and we'll do it again tomorrow. I have 4 pins (that I got free with various purchases) I stuck a couple in a pure olive oil bar for next time.

Re: Pinning Newb - Help!

I have memories of my mom storing my brother's diaper pins stuck in a bar of Ivory soap. Now I know why!

Re: Pinning Newb - Help!

So I had just cut a chunk off the main olive oil bar. But that chunk is breaking up. Apparently the olive oil bar is too brittle for sticking pins in it or it needs a full bar.

It does make it easier though! The pining is going very well we haven't used sposie inserts in a week! woo

I am going to have to come up with an alternative for other people to get her ready for bed though.
