New cloth diapering and need help!

Ive decided to switch my 12 month old to cloth diapers but I'm so confused on all the information! Between prefolds and AIO and brands it's a lot! I need advice! Cloth brands to buy that are affordable but good! Washing tips also?

Re: New cloth diapering and need help!

It really depends.

- What is your budget?
- Do you have any washing restrictions? (like no dryer, hard water, etc.)?
- Is your child sensitive to wetness, chemicals, or certain fabrics?
- Do you need something that is just as close to disposables as possible; or are you willing to try new things like pins or wool covers?

Re: New cloth diapering and need help!

Another question to consider is patience level. If you are willing to try a bunch of things to see what works. If so, try some of whatever interests you from FSOT.

When I started I was gifted with some flats, prefolds, fitted, and covers. We quickly determined the prefolds & flats were not for us, but loved the fitteds. I tried a bunch of other fitted brands from FSOT as well as some AIO/AI2 (for daycare) before deciding which brands I liked.

You'll get as many different answers as there are brands on this one! Personally I look for brands that are made/developed in Canada/US or ethically made in China. I really feel like the quality is better and supporting more local business's is important to me. Although I have dabbled in Kawaii's, but never ended up keeping them. So for me my top brands are GMD, Thirsties, Apple Cheeks, Bummis, BG, Grovia and sbish. I have received consistently well made and functional diapers from these companies and great customer service.
