I confess, I use fabric softener in every load

I put 2-3 tablespoons of Mrs. Meyers Basil fabric softener in every load of cloth diapers. I don't know if I've never had a problem because it doesn't contain synthetic plasticizers, or if it is because I use bamboo and cotton. I really never have a problem and I haven't stripped my diapers in like 9 months.

Any other fabric softener users?

We use mostly organic cotton prefolds and a few fitteds (Patooshie pants bamboo fleece, OC velour Clovers, woven GMs) thrown in for fun. I use fabric softener too!

I use a natural "lavendar" one that I found at Costco that seems to be exactly the same as Seventh Generation lavendar softener which I was using before but costs too much. It barely leaves a smell, no skin irritation issues and no build up issues either. I only use a 1/4 cap for the diapers and do an extra rinse. We all have very sensitive skin and it hasn't been an issue on either diapers or clothing. I think most of the natural fabric softeners are fine for natural fibers as long as they aren't used heavily.

Honestly I purposely have mostly prefolds because then I can soak them in oxyclean, use fabric softener, etc with no worries.

Re: I confess, I use fabric softener in every load

A million years ago, when ds1 was in dipes, I used that special oh gosh, what was it, that one that was diaper safe but otherwise probably full of terrible chemicals. It worked beautifully! lol I don't think it was Downy, but one of those big supermarket brands. When they took it off the market I ordered five bottles of ecover and I have four and a half left five years later. lol I have not been thrilled with the ecover.

Where do you get your Mrs. Meyers and does it work well?

My parents use Ecover at their house. We've never had a problem with that either. The Mrs. Meyers basil scent is seriously to die for though! I could bathe in it. My girlfriend who CDs smelled DS's dipes and went gaga. She demanded to know my secret.

Does the Mrs. Meyers soften about as well as Ecover? And where do you get it? I need a wiff.

I think it's better! They sell it Whole Foods and probably most coop/organic grocery stores. I don't like the lavender from Mrs. Meyers, but the Basil and Lemon Verbena are AMAZING.

I use ecover on my natural fabrics as well, but not the pockets or Aios. I'd love to know where you buy the mrs. meyers. It sounds nice.
