Well it depends. I know spanking is completely ineffective with my DS. But I will swat his hands if he's touching something he shouldn't be after having been told a billion times not to. I was spanked as a child, but I'll fully admit that the things I got spanked for I deserved it!

IMO a spanking is 1 thing, being beat is another, and I dont think they should ban a spanking (thats the only thing that works on some kids)

I don't agree with spanking & do not plan on doing it (never say never :P), but I don't think it should be illegal. there is a huge difference between beating and spanking. the government should be going after the real child abusers, not parents who spank.

I don't hit his father and his father doesn't hit me and our son deserves the same respect.

While I think the law is a good idea in theory, I don't know how they would enforce it. But hitting other adults can land you in jail... how come out children aren't protected as well???
