Re: Dr loved the cd!

My pediatrician and one other in her practice both cloth diaper (both use prefolds). They say I am their only patient to use cloth. My pedi was super interested in Logan's BumGenius on the last doctor visit. Of course, I put him in it deliberately so that she could see it. My doctor is fascinated by pockets!

Re: Dr loved the cd!

I told my OB/GYN that we plan on useing cloth diapers and that man's jaw DROPPED. He couldnt' believe us. But, then again.. he knows I'm originally from San Francisco (he's originally from San Diego... it's a California "au naturale" thing for me) so he just shrugged and said... "Hey.. whatever you want!"... in my mind I was thinking "Good man... don't argue with me..." We're meeting peds next week... it will be interesting to hear what they have to say on CDing. I think that's going to be one of my major factors about who gets chosen... we have only 3 peds in the area... i sure hope ONE of them says he's cool with it!

Re: Dr loved the cd!

I love doctors that our CD friendly. One of the doctors in our practice (the one I see the most) uses them on her own DD. Another doctor thinks it's insane (he told me so) that I would use cloth. Whatever! LOL

Re: Dr loved the cd!

If more people paid attention to what is in sposies, there would be more people cding and dr's encouraging it.

Re: Dr loved the cd!

My little one had an appt the other day and she was wearing a Little Lambs. The doc saw it and asked me "what is THAT?" and I said "Uh, a diaper?" and he tried to take it off by pulling it down! So I unsnapped it for him and she had a diaper rash and he said "that's from the cloth, eh?" and I told him "Actually, no, that's from using a disposable the other day when she had the runs and I was changing her every 30 minutes. I threw one on her for her nap and she woke up with that and it was worse. It's gone down quite a bit but you see these blisters? It's from the chemicals in the diapers." I don't think he's seen cloth diapers used before!

I like watching the looks on the docs when they see cloth.

Re: Dr loved the cd!

I've only had ONE patient with cloth: her aunt had given her a year's worth of a service. Better than sposies, but not nearly as much fun! She and her DH kept saying, "Yeah, we can't believe how EASY it is!" But I've yet to see a baby with a non-service CD...

Re: Dr loved the cd!

i'm totally pro-cloth (duh, or i wouldn't be on here lol) and plan on using both cloth dipes and wipes...but i did want to correct one thing on this thread. i haven't seen any sposie wipes in the 4 + years that i've been using them that contain alcohol anymore, that was an ingredient that was taken out a while ago.

Re: Dr loved the cd!

That is crazy to only change your baby if it poops! I mean I still partially use sposies on DD, and I cannot imagine only changing the kid when he poops!!! What will she do when he is older and only poops once a day!

Anyways I was sooo shocked when I was having rash issues with my DD that my ped suggested cloth, I thought she was insane at first (this was the first month I had the baby) and now I understand, when she saw her in cloth she said how proud she was of me and how much she wishes she could convince other moms to switch, she just says for the main purpose of comfort for your child. Too cool!!!
