Question My crazy Italian HE Washer....plz help!

We're stationed overseas and i've got this crazy italian washer lol. The wash cycles on it are crazy long. I never watched my LG washer wash the clothes so i dont know exactly how my american one washed (other than it worked fabulous!) so i'm trying to figure out what cycle i should do here. It is also a frontloader. I'll be using the Bumgenius Organic AIO OS diapers. I'd also like to know how to prep these using our washer since they should be arriving sometime in the next week or so.

Here are my cycle options:

Cycle 1: 95C White Cotton & Linen (w/ prewash) 156min

Cycle 2: 95C White cotton normally soiled (no prewash) 135min

Cycle 3: 50C Colourfast cotton (no prewash) 102min

Cycle 4: 40C Delicate Cotton/Quick Cotton Wash (no prewash) 76min

Cycle 5: 40C Delicate synthetics (w/ prewash) 64min

Cycle 6: 40C Delicate synthetics (no prewash) 47min

Cycle 7: 40C Delicate synthetics (no prewash) 30min

Cycle 8: 40C Wool & Silk (no prewash) 40min

Cycle A: Rinse and long spin for resistant fabrics 16min

Cycle B: Rinse & short spin for delicate fabrics 6min

I can set my tempature on any of these to whatever I want (i dont know if it actually does it at what i set it at though). Also there is no way to adjust the water level. I also plan on using nellies laundry soda (it seemed to be the best option to cut down time since the wash cycles are so long as it is).

thanks mama's!

I wasn't able to wash well enough in the washer provided to us... I ended up washing on base mostly.

In general you should wash diapers at 40, or at least that's what everyone does in France. Some people pre-wash, some don't. If the cycles are long it may be that it's an eco-friendly washer...Mine also has a great spin cycle...some things come out practically dry.

Re: My crazy Italian HE Washer....plz help!

Do you have a soak option? I found a short cold wash or soak helped prevent stains and stink when peed in.

To prep, I would probably do the
Cycle 2: 95C White cotton normally soiled (no prewash) 135min
and if you have a dryer, dry them once.

To wash I would probably use
Cycle 1: 95C White Cotton & Linen (w/ prewash) 156min unless getting stink/stains then I would do one wash in your shorter cycle like Cycle 7: 40C Delicate synthetics (no prewash) 30min then the 95 wash.

In my old front loader I found one wash was not enough, due to stink. Now I have one with a soak option and I can soak and wash in hot.

Re: My crazy Italian HE Washer....plz help!

thanks ladies. i WISH i could soak but sadly that isnt an option so i thought i would do the cycle 7 or 8 as a prewash since they fill the washer with the most water. Washing on base isnt going to be an option for us. We only have 1 car and sitting on base every night for 2-3 hours will drive me crazy not to mention my husband since that means i'd have to leave right after dinner and wouldnt be home until bed time.

I think it's a good idea to do the cycle 7 or 8 as a prewash - you can do that with no soap. If you're washing anything that isn't white I would be careful with the hot cycles...95 degrees is very hot (practically boiling!) so I really only use it for white things, like prefolds...they do come out super white though. I've gotten so used to the long cycles on my washer that I forgot how short our American washer cycles were! But ours often says it will take 2 hours and it is done in much less.

Re: My crazy Italian HE Washer....plz help!

FYI I was mostly using cotton fitteds and I did EC so I rarely had poopy diapers. When I had just pee diapers I would use a 60 wash and an occasional 90 wash.

A 40 or 50 wash might work well for you with an occasional 95 wash but everything could vary based on your water, detergent and machine.

Happy CD-ing!

Re: My crazy Italian HE Washer....plz help!

thanks. I'll be using the BG Organic AIO OS i got them all white since we have a 2 year old daughter and are expecting a baby boy in march. Will using such hot water (90C) ruin the elastic in the diapers? I ordered some nellies laundry soda since it seems like the biggest issue here is getting all the soap out. thanks for all the advice!
