I remember someone on here trying to dye acryllic yarn with acryllic paint I think. I have no idea how it turned out though!
It would be just for looks, but I think you could use procion dyes for bamboo & cotton yarns.

The problem I"m seeing is other than acrylic none of the other fibers are good for longies. So if you want longies you have to figure out how to do acrylic and kool aid won't do it. If you just want to dye something for anything, you can try other options. But koolaid and wiltons really only seem to work on animal fibers you will need something different for plant based, but then you run into the problem of them not working as longies again. Good luck, let us know what you figure out. Have you considered small family farm raised organic wool grown using sustainable and humane methodes? There are a few small farms that specialize in those products.

I have heard that there are dyes that will dye acrylic but you can only get pastel colors
so i am just giving up on the idea |
