A stranger compliments your child/ren. Do you...

Just curious. I always feel pretty awkward and wondered what others do.

smile and say thank you if were just passing by. If its from another parent with their children say at the park or something I'll make small talk.

I think it would be rude to say nothig, so although it may be awkward sometimes, I smile and say thank you.

I will have to say that I have adorable children and their eyes are very brilliant blue like mine so they get a lot of compliments. Like PP said if it's a random adult I'll smile and say thank you but if it's another parent with children, say at the park, they may be trying to break the ice so I might stay and chat if I get the cues that that's what they were trying to do. KWIM?

Re: A stranger compliments your child/ren. Do you...

I think people should mind there own business (not in a rude way)
I am trying to teach my girls to "not openly talk to strangers" because my girls are very friendly and love everyone.

-- i think it started back from church that my husband and i went to for the past 12 years and worked in the church and knew everyone and could trust all/most people who were around the kids (so being one of the only places my kids went i didn't have to really watch what they we're saything because everyone there knew where we lived anyways.---

In stores, i always need to remind my 5 year old, but to talk to people we don't know. because right off the back shes telling them her name age and shes got a sister and mommies going to have a baby boy... everything, somedays i think shes going to give them our phone number and address and say mommy take a shower in the morning and leaves the door unlocked, come and get us(not really but shes so talkative)

I smile and try not to make more no extra conversation, i love my girls and love the attention of how well and pretty they are, but girls are girls and LOVE TO TALK a-lot!

jake is a quiet baby and even people at the market comment on how good he is.

its awkward for me because its just his temperament, not my parenting skills...

he gets in to a lot of mischief at home (he is in EVERYTHING) so i don't know what will happen in the future :P
