Good contributions to holiday meals when you are traveling?

Anybody have fun ideas of things to take when you don't have your kitchen?

Thanks!

for appetizers - antipasto - salami, cheese, marinated peppers etc...
spinach dip would travel easily, crab dip (cream cheese, crab then seafood sauce layered on a plate - bring ingredients then assemble), cheese plate or cheese ball
mains - lasagna, ham
side dishes - mac & cheese travels well,
dessert - pie, trifle, cookies

Thanks Newton, I like the antipasto idea. I guess I should add traveling on an airplane and buying whatever it is there.

Don't know if you or the people you're sharing the holidays with drink at all but I know in my family a couple nice bottles of wine would be a welcome contribution. Maybe ask whoever you're visiting if there's a good bakery nearby and preorder a dessert to pick up?

That's really a difficult question.

Are you looking for an idea that's premade?

Will you be able to borrow your relatives kitchen and oven if you want to make something?

You could make a large variety of cookies and box them, they should travel fine in an airplane. Fudge would also travel well.

I second the wine idea

or it would be easy to pick up a cheese ball and crackers at the local grocery

I think bringing wine for this family would create quite a stir maybe I should try it!

I do have a kitchen available to use- just no ingredients, and not my kitchen.

I think I'd just stop at the bakery or grocery store and pick up a pie or dessert of some kind. Nut roll goes over well with my family.

Sometimes you can pick up a pre-made veggie tray or cheese and cracker tray.
