Re: Help help!!

If it were me, I'd give him Motrin to get the fever down. How are his diapers? Still wet? I'd keep trying to get fluids in him, even if its a dropperful at a time, but as long as he has tears, his soft spot isn't sunken, and he keeps having wet diapers, he isn't dehydrated.

He is screaming all the time? Maybe hungry now? Does the temp come down? I would probably call the Ped if he is constantly screaming and won't stop for awhile. Maybe give him a wet cool rag to suck on in case it is his teeth.

Re: Help help!!

every waking moment since 130 (he slept about an HR) he's been screaming bloody murder.

I gave him teething tablets and a wet rag and it hasn't helped.

I think I will call his pedi. I gave him a bottle and he kept slapping it away and wouldn't suck on it...

his temp still hasn't gone down.

I totally understand! Even though DD is 6 almost 7 years old I still get all upset when she is sick or in pain.

I'm sure you'll be keeping an eye on him but I just wanted to say please don't think if he's sleeping everything's fine. Stay close to him and keep an eye on his temp- especially if you're not giving anything to reduce the fever.

And if the behavior continues (crying inconsolably and not eating) I would definitely call the ped.

Re: Help help!!

I know he's really young for this, but he may have an ear infection. The screaming in pain and refusal to suck on a bottle/nurse both are the way my LOs let me know when their ears hurt. I'd be even more inclined to think this if he has had any type of cold or sniffles in the past few days. Even if it seems to have come and gone. I would try to keep him as upright as he will let you to keep the pressure off of his ears so he can sleep and take him in to get checked tomorrow. Motrin should help with the pain as well as the fever. Best wishes mama!
