Another Stripping Question

My mother has given me the go ahead to use her dishwasher to strip Caitlin's PFs. They're feeling a little scratchy and were giving her a rash (though I've stripped using my washing machine and dawn and the rash disappeared). Their washing machine is a good 15 years old, and my mom couldn't even tell me the last time she used it. She did say it was still functional though. I'm assuming I'll have to clean it before washing the dipes. How should I go about doing so? Just run a cycle before putting in the dipes? When you strip using the DW, do you JUST use hot water? No dawn? Thanks in advance.
