Re: Ewww--I'm scared of these used dipes I bought!

i wouldn't say a necessity...but after that whole staph thing esp i personally would do it. you just don't know where they're coming from. and bleach kills stuff that nothing else will. it won't hurt the dipes . but bleach then strip again...if it's that nasty you may be stripping a while!!!! try bleaching then stripping in the dishwasher if you have one, it's the most effective way IMO.

Re: Ewww--I'm scared of these used dipes I bought!

I have alot of diapers and I have bleached every one of them at least once. ( I bleach them when they arrive along with a teaspoon of dawn dish detergine). I have only had 1 dipe out of over 100 have any discoloration issues. The one that had the problem was a Happy Heiny cow print diaper. It turned the black cow prints brown. I actually like it better this way! LOL
Just put a capful of bleach in the soap dispenser of your front loader. With a bit of water in the dispenser too and wash them. I have had several that were really really funky smelling too and its an awful stench.

Good Luck

good idea on the bleach...but the manual for my fl washer says to never use bleach. any ideas how to do it?
Really?? That's odd. My FL has a bleach compartment. I'd put 1/8C in a lot of water and swish it around, then dump that in after it filled some. Hope you get the funk out!

Ditto on the bleach thing, I'd do it just to be sure!
