There seem to be several of us on here now, so I thought it might be a good idea to post our info in one place so if someone needs a tech they can see if one of us is close by. If you are looking for a tech, please PM the member listed here for more info. It would be great if this could be made a sticky at some point as well. When you post, use this format:

*sigh* I'm trying to get certified but the place that does it...St John Ambulance, doesn't generally offer it to the public, they do it when an agency wants to offer it to their employees....Grrr. So I'm on a waiting list for the future if there is enough public interest or if there is a group one that they can squeeze another person into.....though I'm not sure my DH will like the cost. $450 bucks for something I would be volunteering my time for.

I feel like I could probably challenge the exam and pass though. LOL

My tech class was FREE because we had a grant from the local teaching hospital for it. I know it's expensive in California to take the class, too and thus, there aren't many techs in the LA area. I hope you get to take it soon!

yup. I know crazy hey. I mean I would have no problem paying $150 or so, I think the information is invaluable, but essentially I would be taking a 3 day class that pretty much will cover most things that I have already learned on my own just so I can be certified.

Here is the response I got when I emailed

Hello Cheryl: Thanks for your interest in the Child Restraint System Technician Training. At this point I don’t have any plans to offer a course in the PG area. Usually a course is scheduled when an agency or a group of agencies comes together to provide the training to their employees. The cost for a course in PG would be in the neighborhood of $3,500 for 8 students - $450 per student for the 3 day training. If you like I will add your inquiry to my class waiting list and will let you know if a course is scheduled or if there is enough individual interest from that area to offer a course.

That's crazy. I took my training through Safe Kids. It cost me $60 I believe. I found out about the class through my local health department (and my sister was a director for our local Red Cross.. so, she had a heads up too).

I live about an hour from LA and was thinking about taking a class. I'll have to see what I can find out.
