I wouldn't feel badly about putting them in a daycare situation. You need to heal and you need your rest. Simple as that. They'll enjoy it and you'll enjoy them more when you have time to rest.

I would do what it takes for you to heal! I hope the girl from freecycle works out for you!

Hugs to you, and good luck with your surgery, and hoping you heal up quickly!

I wouldn't feel guilty putting the LO in daycare, but the friend coming over seems like a much better option, she can keep an eye on you at the smae time. Plus when you are feeling better but still can't lift, it's nice to have company.
Heck I'd come spend the day with you each day for the company and seeing to your Ds if you lived around here.
I know what you mean about small rural towns, I live in one too (well 10 miles into town) The only way I've been acepted by non newbies was to be the local Home visit nurse, I got to meet and get to know all the old families over the years, and am considered a "Local" now. It's taken almost 14yrs though.
I hope the friend comes through, it sounds like she's up for it.

Did you find a solution yet? I wish I could come help you. If my oldest weren't in school I totally would!

Re: Daycare Questions Updated at bottom

Well I went to my friend's house this afternoon & stayed for a few hours. Everything went well She has 2 that stay home w/her 3yo & 2 yo & one 5yo that goes to preschool during the day. She agreed to watch him starting the 19th from 7-5 & said $125/week was ok (although now thing about it I'm worried that's too low - DH says it's fine if that's the going rate for in-home care but I am still thinking about it - when I called around to providers $110-$135 were the rates. $145 for actual daycare facilities).

Anyway, she is also going to watch him on Monday, the actual date of my surgery so that will be a good "test run" as well. I told her if she's not ok w/it then to let us know so we'd still have the few weeks to look for someone else. She agreed.

I also got to meet her DH who works a middle shift (who I found out was recently laid off & is working another job that pays half what the old job was paying ). At least this will be good for them to have some additional income, albeit a temp thing.

I'm really hoping it all works out & I felt comfortable with her too & DS was fine with her. & her house were very kiddo proof & gates everywhere & obviously not put up just b/c I was coming over - most everything was perm-installed stuff & very neat/clean. She still had all the baby stuff from her youngest as well.

You MUST be able to drop by unannounced! I cannot believe anyone would leave their kids there!

My ds is in a home daycare situation. She prefers full time kids but if she has space she takes temporary situations as long as she has all the necessary paperwork on hand. You might be able to find someone in your town who watches kids in their home like she does.

My ds loves it and has since he started at 8 months. When he is home all day with me I truly think he misses playing with all of the kids! At one it may be more of an adjustment though. We started before he had any anxiety yet. Around 1 year he started protesting some when being left.

Good luck with everything! Definitely get daycare. When I had a D&C I had orders not to lift my then 18 month old for a week and found it nearly impossible!

That sounds liuke a good solution. I bet they will be happy for the extra money for a while.
Now just make sure you don't go doing too much while you are alone in the house all day. They less you move and lift the faster you'll heal.
I think you should spend the days posting here on DS
