Where have all the young girls gone?

So the spring/summer clothes are starting to show up in the stores, and I always shocked at the styles they are marketing for little girls these days - low rise jeans, daisy dukes, short skirts, belly baring tops, tube tops, teeny bikinis...

Why do so many people think that sexy clothes for their little girls are cute?!?

I am sure glad some days that we've got a boy!

I agree, I will not dress my daughter in the little hooker line.
I'll drag out my sewing machine and make sun dresses before that.
Why the shorts and skirts need to be super short I have no idea, they can't run and jump and play in those without showing stuff that should be covered. Too many pervs out there to dress kids so revealing.

Tell me about it! When DD was born someone gave us a half-top, mini skirt and jelly shoes from TCP. I HATE the outfit (but never had time to get to the mall to return it.) It's prob. worth nothing now Who would buy that for a nb?

I know hey whats up with that?
Someone in our family bought my 4 yr old DD a Kim Possible outfit, it came with a black jacket which is cut off at the boob level, a pink tank top and flare bottoms... oi.
The outfit looks cute, but whats up with that??

I so know what you mean... I haven't gone shopping for girls clothes or anything lately - but I notice when we are out. I can't remember where we were but there was this family with two little girls with them and one of the girls had on a skirt so short you could *almost* see her butt cheeks. She was probably no older than 9 or 10.

Hmm... that I could probably handle, depending on the way the pants and shirt were cut. Then if you just lose the jacket, if would be cute.

We shop at Gymboree for a reason. Their lines are called April Showers, Family Picnic, etc. They stay away from lines that are called Trashy Tramps, Little Vixen, Ho Wannabe.

Re: Where have all the young girls gone?

This is the exact reason why my husband is terrified of having girl! We have teenage girls living next door, great kids but they dress like hookers!

I keep hoping modesty will be back in style by the time this baby girl gets to be 4 or 5.
