Keep It or Toss It?

I am trying to get my cabinets organized and figure out what I have so I can do a little meal planning and hopefully save a little money!

I found 2 boxes of Hamburger Helper - 1 has a best by date of a year ago, and 1 has a best by date of 8 months ago.

Would you use them? Does that stuff actually go bad?

I am leaning towards tossing them, unless y'all seem to think that they are okay to use...

I don't think that they go bad. I would open up the spice packet and see if it has caked or not.

I guess I should add that I haven't used one in a looooong time and I think they still have spice packets?

Yeah it's usually pasta or rice, sealed in a plastic bag, and the seasoning, also sealed. I'll check... I haven't used them in a long time either lol, which is why they've been in my cupboard for 2 years!

Re: Keep It or Toss It?

The ingredients are probably ok (they are very shelf stable) but I think I would toss them just because 8 months-1 year is a little beyond my comfort zone. If it was 2-3 months, I wouldn't think twice about using it.
