Re: weakness, shakiness, dizziness, extreme fatigue during pregnancy?

I had borderline gestational diabetes, and I had all of those symptoms frequently.

Oh, it could be low blood sugar as well. When I'm pg I have to eat every 2 hours!

I'd guess low blood sugar, which may or may not be diagnosable as gestational diabetes... you can talk to your care provider but I hate those glucose tolerance tests... personally I'd rather check my own blood sugar with a glucometer. Your provider should be able to get you a prescription for one so that insurance would cover it.

Try eating more protein and more fat, with less carbs, or at least eat protein and fat any time you do have carbs... and eat more frequently. Do you know about the Brewer diet? 100g protein a day is recommended. That really helps you think about getting all the nutritional stuff in and then you hardly have any room for carby white or sweet stuff that can wack out your blood sugar

How are you feeling now? Have you talked to your provider?

No, I haven't talked to my doctor yet. I am still feeling tired, weak and a little dizzy, but am trying to make it. I had all my prenatal bloodwork drawn about 5 weeks ago and everything came back normal then. I do have thyroid problems and am already on medication for it, but i don't know if my numbers could have drastically changed in such a short amount of time??? Anyways, I probably need to go in...I keep thinking if I wait it out, I will feel better. I do feel a little better, but not a lot! Thanks for asking.

Yes your numbers CAN drastically change in a short period of time and with it bring drastic symptoms. I've really been struggling with my thyroid this time around. It will be ok for 6 weeks then all of a sudden I'm losing hair and skin, can't move off the couch, and am super dizzy just because my numbers shifted SLIGHTLY. I've been followed by an endocrinologist this entire pregnancy and it's been a PAIN, but at least I know exactly when my meds need upped.

I have a vast history of hyperthyroid, and my OB said that the HCG surge can act similar to thyroid hormone, so YES pregnancy can affect this. You should definitely talk to your doctor about it! That is why you pay them!

Re: weakness, shakiness, dizziness, extreme fatigue during pregnancy?

this is me too...i get really low blood pressure pregnant. So low i have blacked out in the shower before. Luckily our new shower has a seat in it. I don't get m/s really but i get so freaking faint and lightheaded. They thought it was blood sugar with dd and did so many freaking glucose tests on me and it was always perfect. Nope, low blood pressure. They said high is common in pregnancy but not low. Very strange. I have to just move very slow and not stand up suddenly and stuff. Big hgus.

Re: weakness, shakiness, dizziness, extreme fatigue during pregnancy?

Avoid moving in a rush. Getting out of bed too quickly or standing up from a seat may cause the blood from your body to clutter in your legs and feet. It does not have enough time to circulate to your brain, which leads to dizziness. Actually, sudden movement is the common reason for dizziness during pregnancy. To prevent this from happening, make sure you get up slowly. Try to have a concrete grab of things first before you actually get up and out of bed or chair.
