Re: Newborn Circumcision Decision

it hasn't been easy... DS is intact... and DH is circ'd so we don't know much about an intact penis... Just recently I had a urologist try to scare me into it... I made an appointment and everything!! I was temporarily filled with regret, then I did some research and have not looked back! (and DS is still whole) We also have a rockin' ped. who is pro~intact all the way, so that helps...
this web site and this page in particular have helped tremendously!

I'm so sorry. That sounds just awful for both of you.

I guess I should clarify that my son isn't circ'ed and to this day neither DH nor I has expressed the least regret. (DS seems quite fond of it as-is, too. ) I asked about the poll because a few people we know have found out and implied that we'll regret not doing it because he'll have so many problems that it will have to be done later anyway, and/or that DS will hate us when he's grown for not doing it when he was a baby.

I don't necessarily agree, but I've been wrong before ... and in the interest of objectivity I wanted to ask about other people's experiences and see some actual numbers.

We cc'd both our boys. I have no regrets, I made the best decision to my knowledge at the time. I pretty much just thought thats what you did.
Now if we were to have another baby and it was a boy, I really don't know what I would do.

Re: Newborn Circumcision Decision

I had several Moms I know IRL all but beg me not to since they so regreted getting their sons done.

I am curious for those who do circ, with the numbers in some areas higher for uncirced then circed how will you approach the you look different then other boys questions if your son is the one who is not the norm? I ask because in my area, that is not that crunchy, almost all the boys around my DS's age are intact, a circed boy would be the odd man out in our group.

I also think when they age and become sexual what the norm in the past was, is in fact going to be reversed, how is that going to effect them. These last two things actually sealed the deal for my DH since he figured it was better for DS to be in his generations norm then, a past generations.
