Cooking help quick please!!!!
The Kitchen forum is quiet today and I have a question.....I am going to make this recipe tonight:
http://thepioneerwoman.com/tasty-kit...ge-5/#comments DD is allergic to apricots so I have in house....apple preserves or grape jam. Do you think this would work too?

Re: Cooking help quick please!!!!
Use the grape jelly. Lots of bbq recipes call for grape jelly so I think that would be your best bet. Sounds yummy.

Re: Cooking help quick please!!!!
Really? I would go with the apple because taste wise it is closer to apricots. Really, though, if you could run to the store, peach preserves would probably work better. To me, apricots and peaches are similar

I wonder if a blend of the two preserves (apple and grape) would work?

Re: Cooking help quick please!!!!
You could probably blend them - I was going to suggest the apple as well - I guess try and if you don't like it try it again a different way lol!

Re: Cooking help quick please!!!!
I would use apple. It's nice and mild, and we are used to finding apple as a filler in foods. Grape is a much stronger flavor, IMHO, and may overpower your sauce.
I would not mix them! In culinary school we made several sets of brownies: with oil with applesauce instead of oil with prune puree instead of oil with half applesauce and half prune puree instead of oil The only ones that were really gross were the last! Too many flavors will not be your friend.

I vote for the apple as well. It will sweeten, but not overpower the flavor.

Re: Cooking help quick please!!!!
I would try orange (for next time). But if I had to choose between grape and apple... hmmm... tough decision!! I would assume either would be fine as I've seen recipes for grape jelly in BBQ, and I might lean towards a milder apple flavor... GOOD LUCK!
