Re: Five movies you absolutely expect your kids to watch before leaving home.
In no particular order of importance. The required viewing list for our home
1. The Passion of Christ 2. The original Star Wars Trilogy 3. The original Indiana Jones Trilogy 4. Serenity (also all episodes of Firefly) 5. Fiddler on the Roof 6. 2001: A Space Odyssey 7. Batteries Not Required 8. The Neverending Story 9. Princess Bride 10. The Matrix (but we pretend the 2 sequels never happened)

I had forgotten about how much there is in Fiddler on the Roof aside from it being so stinking entertaining! And Batteries not Included is a great story as well. My DS1 thinks that it is such a sweet and kind movie. I am curious as to your reasoning behind the Matrix movie is. Is that one about entertainment or is there something deeper there that I am missing? Or is it the Biblical parallels? And, please, someone help me out with 2001: A Space Odyssey. I have seen it several times and I am always left scratching my head and thinking, "That is the weirdest thing I've ever seen." It's right up there with The Fountain. Perhaps it is just too abstract for my widdle mind.

Re: Five movies you absolutely expect your kids to watch before leaving home.
Must see movies that my Nephews need to watch.
1) All 6 of the Star Wars movies (they've already seen most of every movie.) 2) All 8 of the Harry Potter movies (book 7 is gonna be put into 2 movies.) They've already seen most of all the Harry Potter movies that's been already released. 3) The Goonies (They've also already seen most of this movie lol.) 4) Ferris Buellers Day Off (They've already seen most of this one.) 5) Dirty Dancing (They've already seen most of this one.) 6) The Never Ending Story. 7) The Breakfast Club. 8) Stand By Me. (They haven't seen this one yet I'll probably wait a couple more yrs on this one.) I'm sure I have a lot more that I can't think of right now. Already gotten a jump start on quite a few on the list. Yes my Sister and Brother in Law know that their Sons have seen most of these movies.

Re: Five movies you absolutely expect your kids to watch before leaving home.
I don't know if I can narrow it down to five
1-Neverending Story 2-Wizard of Oz (tried this one, not into it yet) 3-Goonies (watched this and they LOVED IT, thought they might be young still but nope) 4-Stand By Me 5-Star Wars (even though I've never seen it) 6-All Dogs Go To Heaven (Pretty sure they have seen this one too) 7-Pete's Dragon (will watch this one soon) 8-Bedknobs and Broomsticks (tried this one, not interested yet so will try again another time) 8) George Orwell's Animal Farm if I can ever find it on DVD I know there are more, I just can't think of them off of the top of my head. ETA: DEFINITELY the entire Indiana Jones series. Seven Brides For Seven Brothers Last edited by Chey; 01-16-2010 at 01:43 PM. |

Re: Five movies you absolutely expect your kids to watch before leaving home.
Renae! RENT!!!
![]() Melissa - I loved your reasons! IDK, I've never thought of there being a list of "must watch" movies. Movies were really really not considered something you should "waste" your time on when I was growing up. But I def see the value in some that have been listed! That said, DD just got the OLD Winnie the Pooh for Christmas (copied off the old VHS, real actors, not animation.) and I LOVE them! I might have to *accidentally* have all the kids watch them - they are fabulous! (especially compared to spongebob )and I love Dirty Dancing, RENT, Mamma Mia, Center Stage, Death Race, just to name a few - but I'm not sure if I'll want the kids to watch all those ![]() They've already seen all the star wars ones (DSS has them memorized) The older two have seen just about every movie that's come out since they've been born, and then some. Their lifetime list is WAY longer than mine already ![]() Oh, I think they'll need to watch Back to the Future
