Hylands Cold

I have a quick question. My 3 year old and my 5 month old are both suffering from a cold. Stuffy/runny nose (clear), cough, and just all around not feeling well. They both ran a very low fever (100ish) yesterday but are fever free today. They both had well baby visits last week and she heard them coughing and listened to their chest. She said they just have a cold and its mostly drainage causing this. Im headed to buy some Hylands remedies (unless you suggest something else) What should I get? Are any of them safe for my 5 month old? Thanks so much. I just want them to feel better soon.

Re: Hylands Cold

I use Hyland's C Plus Cold and elderberry syrup with echinacea in it. Works great for us.

Re: Hylands Cold

Thank you. I noticed on the Hylands website (Im new to these kind of things...sorry for my silly questions) that these things are for kids 2 and older. Should I not give them to Sam (5 months old. 17lb if that helps any) or should I cut the amount? Im sorry...I just really dont know what to do for the little guy. We do use a cool mist humidifier. I sit with him in the bathroom with a steamy shower and a drop or two of eucalyptus oil on the shower floor..that works so well for the time being but he gets all stopped up again. Elderberry syrup...I hear this alot but I have no idea what it is or how to use it. I need a book....sigh...

Sorry, I didn't realize C plus cold was for 1 year and up. I started giving it to DD with a cold when she was 14 months old. I also realized that the syrup I give my daughter is for 1 year and up also. I know that when I was checking out my local health food store they had plain alcohol free elderberry syrup that was ok for 6 months and up but I can't remember the brand name right now.

Re: Hylands Cold

Ok so here is what I bought. lol. Kids 0-9 brand cough and cold. Its made by Homeolab. and Sambucus kids formula made by Nature's Answer for kids. So, does anyone know if I can give BOTH to my 3 year old at the same time? And are either safe for my son. The cough and cold says its for kids aged 0 to 9 so I assume its safe....Not sure about the Sambucus because it only gives a doseage and no age.

The amount of the Elderberry? Im sorry...Im not sure what to do about that one. I gave him the Kids 0-9 Cough and Cold. I also gave that to my dd. Both did well with it and it really helped with the cough. I just wonder when I can begin the Elderberry along with it.

Re: Hylands Cold

For elderberry, if you get the kind for younger kids I believe it should say on the side for what age and how much. I think for 1 year and up it was 5 ml for most of them. I would ask the doctor (if he is homeopathy-friendly) and see if you just need to cut it.
