Make sure the suction petal(the round disc on the underside of the pump) is completely in place. If it is out of line littlebit or the lipis stuck inside it wn't suction. If that doesn't work they putting a drop or two of water on your areola to form a better suction on the horn. HTH! Avent is the only manual pump that I could use!

Is the little white star piece facing up or down? It is supposed to face up.

Hope you can get it working... I love it! Got 2.5 oz. out of one boob in less than 10 minutes!

Okay the petal thingy was down so I changed it to up..and it pumped great..like a gazillion jets of milk were coming out...then after about 3-5 pumps it would go to 'one or two streams'. I'd take it off and start over the same thing would happen. So I know there is milk in there iykwim.

any idea why it would lose suction after so little pumps? I'm glad i got that one part figured out though
