Acid Reflux getting out of control! Please help!
I've heard of many women having issues with acid reflux. And, I'm sorry if this was posted before, but I'm posting it today.
It started out innocent. I would have small issues with acid reflux at night only. So, a tums or 2 would help. But, it's become worse and worse. I'm almost 28 weeks, and I have it from morning til night. Night time is the very worst though! It's giving me horrible chest pains from it, and (sorry TMI) I'll vomit a bit up my throat. very acid like, and I already have problems with my teeth, and this is making it worse, because I know I'm prob sleeping, and it comes up. I stay away from sauce 90% of the time, but I have this problem every day. I've noticed chocolate makes it worse, so I avoid that when I can, which is super hard! I'm thinking milk is giving me issues, but I love my cereal, and don't wish to subsitute with soy, or lactaid. Tums don't help anymore. Is there some safe home remedies that I can have that will ease my pain? Oh, and I had this problem with my first child, and he was a boy, and my pregnancies with my girls were not nearly as bad. I'm expecting a boy again, and it's like going through it all over again! All my kids had lots of hair, so there goes that theory....LOL! Well, I'd appreciate ANY advice!!

Oh man... I just brought this up with my midwife who doesn't recommend tums. Crap! I can't remember what she DID recommend... papaya enzymes I think??

Yup, my midwife rec's papaya enzymes. They've helped me immensely! When I was pg w/ DS though, I got to the point where I had to take a Rx med (protonix, I think) I wasn't excited to have to take it, but nothing else worked and it was amazing.

With ds, I ended up using apple cider vinegar. You can mix a few tablespoons in oj or another drink. Or if you were desperate enough (as I was), I swigged it straight from the bottle. I ended up having to be put on meds and still ended up sleeping straight up in the recliner every night, but lots of mammas swore it worked for them.

Re: Acid Reflux getting out of control! Please help!
I ended up on zantac at the end of my last two pregnancies because of acid reflux.
It's miserable. It is already starting for me, but is only really bad when I lay down at night for now. The good news for me was I didn't have to take the zantac constantly if I stuck to mild foods, and eating very small amounts at a time.

Any of the H2 blockers such as Pepcid or Zantac are category B in pregnancy!

I posted about all natural heart burn remedies on another online mommy chat group(local to me) and papaya enzymes came up twice! As did the vinegar--but that doess not appeal to me at all.
