Seriously can't believe no one suggested Dr. Brown's bottle. Those wee my FAVORITE ever, even though they do have an extra couple of pieces to clean. eh, i'll take that for a great bottle

We were having trouble getting DS to take the Avent bottles ans switched to the Tommy Tippie bottles and he LOVES them. I think they are kinda pricey, but if you can get them on sale it is a great deal. Sometimes using a bottle can be a difficult challenge so hang in there.

dd had no bottles or pacifiers, but now we've used both w/ ds. We've used the soothie pacifiers & breastflow bottles and had no problems w/ breastfeeding.

DS1 didn't take to a paci at all and we tried quite a few different brands. When I went back to work and he had to drink bm from a bottle the one that worked for him were the ones by Avent. DS2 likes the soothie pacis and has also taken well to the Avent bottles. HTH!!!

Re: Pacifiers? Bottles? Help, please.

Hello again, mamas!

Okay, I got the tommee tippee bottles and pacifiers. So far, he has taken both. The nipple design is superior IMO. However, the milk seems to come out too fast! So he chokes on it. (We got the 5 oz bottles, so the nipples are size 1.) Should I stick with it, or try another bottle? Is there another brand that will come out slower?

I was thinking of trying the breast flow or the Dr Browns. What about the Medela nipple? Can I use those with any standard bottle? Any opinions?

And, which Dr. browns bottle are you recommending? The wide or the narrow one?

Thank you so much for the help!

Re: Pacifiers? Bottles? Help, please.

Pacifiers are kind of the baby's choice. It's hard to know which they will like.

But, from a daycare provider's point of veiw, I HATE the Dr Brown's bottles.

HATE them.

The old fashon Playtex collapsable bottles are and always will be my favorite. You push the air out of the bag, and the baby can eat in any position. It is easier, cleaner, less hassle.

I'm also not a huge fan of the avent bottles. The milk just runs all over the baby's chin and neck.

I'm actually very passionate about bottles.... not passionate enough to tell the daycare parents which they should choose.... but, I will whine and complain about these stupid dr Brown's bottles to whoever will listen.

Re: Pacifiers? Bottles? Help, please.

I was looking to bump this type of thread cause I needed to know whats new now...
Its been 2yrs since we used bottles. and our favs were avent. I used medela for storage.

NOW I boycotted Avent cause of the non BPA thingy (and they are saying there was NO recall) but also the price.

my son, was allowed a bottle till he was 2. for juice and breastmilk when I left for work or in the car.

now I am going with Mam and playtex airflow (wide nipples) but I also have a couple medela wide nipples. thinking about returning those tho.

We are still using breastflow and I just recently bought the 1st years mipump so i can actually pump right into my bottles. I like that these bottles require a semi-latch for the baby, but we do still use the #1 nipples b/c the #2's let the milk come out without him sucking.
