Called the doctor's office, and appearantly they could not ask him, so they told me to stick to Tylenol until I come in...in two weeks. However, I am sick NOW!! Can I take? I took Muxinex DM once when pg with DD, and no problems, but my doc was not happy about it...what do you think?

yep. As long as you take the one that's only the expectorant as the active ingredients.

as far as i know, only the "non-drying" type is ok...ask the pharmacist wherever you purchase to be sure. They are often pretty knowledgable about what is ok and what is not, and will look it up for you if they dont' know.

It's a pregnancy category C drug so I would hesitate a bit. If you are having a lot of mucous, drink a LOT of water. Thick mucous can come from dehydration (and colds, etc tend to make you not feel thirsty). You can also try saline rinses to clear your nose out.

If you do use mucinex, make sure it doesn't contain medicines other than the guaifenisen so that you aren't doubling up on pain meds, cough suppresents, etc.

Mucinex DM is not safe to take while pregnant. The plain Mucinex without the decongestant (DM) is safe to take
