Re: UK mums

all washing machines are different, some work by choosing a number, others have a more detailed description on the dial. the goal is to figure out the setting for a 40 degree. hope that helps!!! sorry!

Hi - welcome to the UK, whereabouts are you?

What make is the washer? If you have the make you can look online and find an instruction manual for your machine.

I usually wash on 40 degrees, but if they are particularly bad then i use 60. I do a rinse before and after. I've never used ecover, i use fairy or daz and never had a problem - you may need to strip your nappies, or perhaps put a bit of white vinegar in with the wash to take away the smell?

Also do you know if you're in a hard or soft water area? That does make a difference.

Please just shout if you need any more help

Re: UK mums

you can wash at 40 degrees or 60 degrees. most people use non bio for nappies. use only a small quantity. i always did a cold rinse before washing. and did an extra rinse at the end of the wash cycle and never had problems with stink.
it does help to wash out the washing machine too from time to time with some soda bicarb and vinegar on a 90 degree wash (with nothing inside).
hth.

My DD's dipes starting getting smelly after moving here too - I stopped using detergent and made my own soap to clean them with, I also had an eco washer it never got them clean so I sometimes would handwash.
