chicago mom's--taxi question.

I'm not from this city and was looking into getting a taxi (for my sister traveling with 3 children under 4) from the airport to union station...will she need carseats or are taxis exempt or is it socially acceptable not to have children in carseats in a cab? thanks.

Re: chicago mom's--taxi question.

taxi's aren't exempt, but some will ignore the rules... most mamas travel with the carseat, just check it on the airplane. the most legal way to make that trip would be to take the Blue Line El from O'Hare to Clinton and then walk the 2-3 bl to union station, it's legal to have babies on the El without a seat!

Re: chicago mom's--taxi question.

I would say it's socially acceptable, but considering it's a longer trip on the highway with potential traffic, I wouldn't feel comfortable with that. Plus it's like $30 to downtown. I would take the el, at least to the loop and then maybe cab it in the loop.
