Eating whole apples...
I had given Katie an apple today, and she was eating it. She's 23 months, so I just hand her the apple. Well, she had taken too big of a bite and had bitten into the core and got to the seeds...She spit out what was in her mouth, but she may or may not have eaten an apple seed or two. I don't THINK she did, but I'm not positive. I know you always hear that they are toxic...Do you think she will be ok??

Re: Eating whole apples...
She would have had to really chewed the seeds up to get to the toxin, and still, it wouldn't be much.
You could call poison control for peace of mind though.

Re: Eating whole apples...
It takes a LOT of apple seeds. She might have interesting poop in about 12 hours.

Re: Eating whole apples...
I didn't know they had toxins.
My old boss used to always eat whole apples every day. I asked him why once and he said as a kid he used to get in trouble for leaving apple cores around and so he just started eating the whole thing. ![]() I'm sure she'll be fine

the amount of apple seeds she would have to chew up and swallow is huge, so she'll be fine. no worries!

Thanks mamas!!
I figured it was fine, but still wanted to make sure. I know I would have been fine, but since she was so much smaller, I wasn't totally sure.

Re: Eating whole apples...
For the future, you can get an apple corer for a few bucks. It drills a hole through the center of the apple, so no more worries!
(My kids are obsessed with eating apples, and especially love them whole, so I use mine all the time.)

Re: Eating whole apples...
![]() My 3 year old dd eats the whole apple, core and all. I used to try to stop her, but really, she is so picky, at this point I'm okay with it! I guess maybe it's extra fiber, and the seeds won't hurt them. I find it ridiculous that she is so incredibly picky and stubborn about food, but she will eat apple cores, boogers, and toe nails! YUCK!!

Re: Eating whole apples...
My 5 year old used to eat the entire apple all the time when he was 2 and 3.
