Chiropractor Care? HELP!
So I've heard of the great benefits of chiropractor care in pregnancy, and am VERY interesting in it (especially since I'm trying a VBAC, I've heard so much success from it!). Well I called my local office (which DH and his family have went to, they are GREAT) and since I don't have insurance, it will be $45 for the first visit, and $35 for every visit after that.
My question is this: I'm almost 14wks, should I start now? When should I start? How often should I go, especially later in pregnancy?

Re: Chiropractor Care? HELP!
Go as often as you need to! If I could afford it, I would go twice a week! (but I would have gone more as needed....at about 14-18 weeks, I had SEVERE ligament pain and hip pain to the point where I was crawling up the stairs). If you get some good recommendations from local people, then with a trusted chiro, they can set up a good schedule. Never to early to start in my opinion! You might need it just once a month while you are feeling good and more often as the aches and pains creep in. Good luck! My chiro helped me with hip and back pain and a breech baby last time!

Yes! Go as often as you feel like/can afford!
I adore my chiropractor especially when pregnant. My insurance doesn't cover chiropractic care but my chiropractor offers a discount for non-insurance patients and always adjusts my 2 year old for free ![]() I pretty much just go when I feel like I need to (usually 1x month and them more often towards the end of pregnancy) |

Re: Chiropractor Care? HELP!
start now then your chiro will suggest a 'plan' for you based on what s/he sees... usually you start out 1+ times a week, then go less and less often as you hold your adjustments. Toward the end of the pregnancy you may need to increase visits again as baby makes your spine shift around with movement, or as needed for comfort. Get massage therapy along with it and you'll be golden!

Re: Chiropractor Care? HELP!
I would definitely start now. At 14 weeks you can still lay face down on the tables and there is better luck at correcting any difficult issues. Adjustments get . . . interesting when they have to start breaking out the pregnancy pillows.
I am interested in how they will do your initial visit without x-rays. I've known and seen a lot of chiros (sis and bro-in-law are both DCs, and when they moved away I had a few over the years) and I don't know of any that will touch you before an xray. |

Re: Chiropractor Care? HELP!
I think a good chiro is a lot like a good midwife, and can tell volumes with their hands alone. I've been seeing my chiro for 7 years, through three pregnancies, and I"ve never been x-rayed. He has, however, turned two of my babies from breech to vertex (one at 37 weeks)

Re: Chiropractor Care? HELP!
If you can't afford it the entire pregnancy, do once a month? Or even once every 6 weeks....
The really important part is the last 8 weeks from what I've gathered. I started a month ago, went twice, waited a couple weeks and just now scheduled my 3rd visit. I'm going to go once a week until the baby is born.

![]() Thank you all! I will definitely be going as soon as we get the money, it's stupid tight right now ![]() I did go to a Chiro when I was in 5th grade, so I kinda know what to expect (I say kinda because I can't remember all the positions, ) Which reminds me of another question: Do they always adjust your neck? I *CANNOT* relax enough for that not to hurt, even though it was only done once. Would it be good for me to have it adjusted? Or is that just for comfort?
