Can you watch horror/suspense movies that have babies?
Before becoming a mom I could watch pretty much any movie that had babies in it without becoming too upset. I mean where something bad happens to the baby (not drastic with horrible endings, those always bothered me but just someone kidnaps them and stuff like that). But now I can't watch anything like that without becoming overly emotional. Like right now, I'm watching The Hills Have Eyes and the monsters kill two of the women but take the baby with them. They haven't hurt the baby as far as I've seen so far, but they just keep her. Oh my gosh I wanted to cry when the father looked into the bassinet and saw her gone. It broke my heart.
Is anyone else like this? I'm sure many of us feel awful anyways, but since becoming a mom does it tug at your heartstrings that much more?

Re: Can you watch horror/suspense movies that have babies?
I don't watch horror movies at all since having children and I try to avoid violent films. Not always easy, since my husband loves a blood bath and encourages me to stay with him to watch. Horror movies are always kind of unbelievable, so I can scoff at the monster takes the kid kind of thing. What haunts me for a long time is stuff like Natalie Portman's scene in "Cold Mountain" and "Children of Men" (watched while pregnant- big mistake). Basically, any end of the world scenario keeps me thinking for days. Before kids, it all seemed theoretical. Now... I realize I'm mortal too.

I don't watch horror at all. Suspense involving kids has always been a no too. I remember that movie with Angelina Jolie came out...the one where they try and convince her a different kid is her kid. My sister told me do not watch it and I never did.

Re: Can you watch horror/suspense movies that have babies?
I guess it depends on the movie. One like "Hills Have Eyes" I'd say no, because it's so grossy unrealistic to me - and I'm a big horror movie buff so it takes a lot for those to bother me. Now I did watch a show the other day on...TLC maybe?...about a woman who was attacked in her home and her newborn baby was stolen by some crazy woman. THAT freaked me out, maybe because it was based on a real story.

I love scary movies! But it is hard to watch when something bad happens to a baby. It's even worse to me though, just to watch the nightly news... There's some bad stuff that happens to LOs IRL that chokes me up.

Re: Can you watch horror/suspense movies that have babies?
we just recently watched Law Abiding Citizen and it made me physically nauseous when the guy picked up the little girl to take in the other room (if you haven't seen it, you don't want to know). now that i have kids it's much harder to see/hear about things happening to kids without imagining how i would feel if it was one of my own.

Re: Can you watch horror/suspense movies that have babies?
I used to love love love scary movies. And now I find if its truly terrifying I can't watch it (paranormal activity) we watched a movie that was supposed to be a funny action movie according to dh. Shoot Em Up? There's a baby in there and all through the movie I was shouting "NO!" at the screen.

Re: Can you watch horror/suspense movies that have babies?
@nalazimbala I know what you mean! I haven't see that movie yet, but anytime something like that is on a TV show (like CSI or the news even) or a Lifetime movie where something bad is going to happen to a child or baby, I just can't watch those anymore. They make me sick to my stomach and *sometimes* cry, and I used to be able to watch just about anything.
