MMR vax question (state specific)

I have a friend who delay vaxes and wants to order the MMR separate, but says her dr. said it isn't possible in IL b/c of how the vaccines get ordered (must be in sets or something.)
Does anyone know whether or not it is able to be ordered as separate vaxes in IL? If you've done it or know info, please let me know so I can pass it along to her. Thanks!

(I decided not to put this in the regional thread so as to get more views and hopefully someone who knows specific info.)

I'm in IL and I have been under the impression that the MMR is currently not available seperated at this time. I don't know if that is just here in IL, or everywhere. We are delaying that one anyway...hope someone here knows more info for you!

Last I heard, the separated MMR vaccines aren't available anywhere, since Merck stopped manufacturing them due to low demand:

I don't think they are making it anymore. We are in Oregon and unable to get it. So we will be just skipping it altogether!

I live in Tennessee and my friend lives in Georgia and you can receive the MMr or any other shots separately both places. It is supposed to be totally up to the parent. I don't know if this is the same in other states. You should ask your pediatrician and see if your office does the same as hers. Do you live in the same state?

Have you done them recently? My older 2 were able to do the seperately, but my youngest can't get the pieces.

Re: MMR vax question (state specific)

Merck stopped making the separate shots. Some Dr's offices still have some, but when they run out, there is no possible way to order more. In my area, only county (free medical clinic) still has the separate shots. They expect to run out before the end of the year. Since we were going to start the ind. shots at 3, I guess we'll be skipping altogether until they're older.

Re: MMR vax question (state specific)

I tested equivalent immunity for reubella when I was pregnant, and the midwife was telling me they would want to give it to me in the hospital (the vaccine, not reubella itself ) we got to talking about how we don't do vaccines, and she told me that Merk stopped making them seperately. I live in TN.

Thanks for letting me know, everyone! I'll tell her to check our county, but assume it is unavailable.
