Re: ~$5 Meal Ideas~

Sweet and Sour Meatballs (a little over $5, can we say $6 LOL)

1 2lb bag of ready made meatballs $3.50
1 can jellied cranberry sauce .40
1 jar chili sauce $1.20

brown the meatballs in the oven as directed. In the meantime put the cranberry sauce and the whole jar of the chili sauce into the crock pot and turn on high. Mush up the cranberry sauce and cook until its a smooth mixture then add meatballs Cook a little longer and they are all ready

I serve this with corn, and homemade bread Its a quick, cheap and easy meal!

I make something close to at, and will be giving your recipe a try!

This is how I make mine..... its usually made on my lazy days! ONLY $1.70!!!!
but then include the milk and butter for the mac n cheese and you are prob at $2! Still cheap!

2 boxes of cheap macaroni and cheese $1.00
1 can of your favorite chili (get mine at Aldis for .70, or you can freeze leftover chili and use it in this meal

Make macaroni as directed and when its done dump in the can of chili and stir!

Re: ~$5 Meal Ideas~

Bacon Cheeseburger Helper - EASY and cheap! And probably more like $6 but its only $1 over

2 boxes of cheeseburger helper (I use the ALDIs kind) $1.80
1lb ground turkey $1
1 2oz bag real bacon bits, or you can add your own fried bacon $1.20
1/2 bag of shredded cheddar cheese $1

Make the h-b helper as normal/directed and when its done add in bacon bits, and a little cheese, stir and place in a baking dish or cake pan. Top with remaining cheese and put in the oven on 350 until the cheese on top melts!
Serve with warm french bread!

Re: ~$5 Meal Ideas~

Left Over Soup - this meal will only be about $3 because of the bread and stewed tomatoes.

Put a large bowl in your freezer and start saving left over veggies (corn, green beans, carrots etc) When you bake a chicken take whats left and cook it down in a large pot. Take the leftover meat and the broth and add it to the freezer bowl. Once the bowl is full take it out of the freezer and dump it into a large pot, I add 3 cans of stewed tomatoes (50 cent each) and then warm up some french bread.

If you ever make chili yourself save whats left (I save everything and put it in the freezer ) Then when you are ready to make it you can just thaw out your frozen Chili

Oh another recipe using your left over chili is what my kids call "chili bake" Put your left over chili in a cake pan then mix up some of the boxed Jiffy corn muffin mix as directed, add in 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese and spread it over your chili. Bake until the cornbread mix is done I serve it with a little extra cheese on top My kids love this!!!!

I've done this, except I put hot dogs sliced lengthwise in it--it's like chili-corndog casserole. Yum!
