I have been eyeballing the purple/black ones they are so cute! I have a pair from her that should have been here today but the postman didn't knock he just left a card to go pick it up tomorrow Too bad I could have told you if I liked them!

I emailed her to ask about the legwarmers, and she said the purple ones arent as soft as the pink ones, the pink are merino and the purple fishermans wool. So, I bought the pink ones and, the best part is she is going to knit Celeste a pair of cashmere ones too a 7 yr old in cashmere leg warmers

I think the leg warmers will work great! My mom, who is always freezing, loves thick tights too. She wears them under everything in spring, fall and winter. They make super cute ones, and many are a nice heavy weight.

My first thought was of the rice pack someone made me for a baby gift. It was two baby washcloths sewn together with rice in them. You heat it and the rice stays warm for a really long time. I used this for my mom when she had an eye injury. You can get it slightly warm or very warm depending on what you want and it holds the heat.
I was thinking that maybe you could sew tiny rice packets onto knee high socks like in a pattern where they would be randomly throughout the kneehighs and then warm them before putting them on her (just not too warm so that she wouldn't feel overheated).
