DD Having Trouble With ..... Going #2

She is 13.5 months and in pain while pooping. Can I give her prune juice? What else to help her??

oh this is horrible! DD had this problem at her exact age too . I would always giver her a little apple or pear juice, and it would all be better later on. Prunes, and juice didn't ever do anything for her

Actually, foods that start with a "p" work great-pears, peaches, prunes. I also have had great success with simply taking a rectal temp, it stimulates enough to help the bowels work. If your child is eating food, taking soy formula or soy milk, rice cereal or other constipating foods, then you need to cut them down or balance them with foods that start with a "p"

Pear juice worked best for my oldest dd. My 14 month old can't poop no matter what so I on a prescription to make it all soft. Definately try pear juice, or pears pieces are even better!

Thanks! I'll try a little apple or pear juice tonight & she just ate some split pea soup which helped her brother when he was her age She is pretty much starting solids now (she has eatten cherrios, fruits, veggies, bread since 10months old but is now wanting more than breastmilk)

Pears worked for my 5yo when he was having issues this summer.

OKay I got Apple & Prune juice but there wasnt any Pear Juice ... is there such a thing? I did get pears too!

Our Ped told us that Orange juice works really well for that too, and its something you usually have on hand anyway lol. Hope something works for your dd!!
