Boiling to strip?

Ok I just bought some used Flip and Gro baby's and when I was washing I notices a bunch of bubbles I have and HE front loader so I use Rock N Green and have never seen so many bubbles. I rinsed rinsed and rinsed but when I put them on DS he got a bad rash and they had ammonia stink I dont know if the rash was from the ammonia or from the detergant the other mama used so my question is can you boil Flip and Grow baby inserts? and if you can how exactly do you boil them? Just boil for 5min or longer then wash them like normal? I am new to this but TIA

Could be the detergent isn't working with your water. I used so many different brands of natural detergent and finally went with Tide and All.. the others caused rashes, stink and tons of build up with our hard water here.

Re: Boiling to strip?

We have very hard water here in TX and I bought Calgon and it has helped with the other diapers I had before but these new ones I got break him out every time I might just have to keep rising and rinsing but I was wanting to see if it would be faster to just boil them to get the detergant out

If you've been using Rockin Green just fine, then that isn't the problem. I'm guessing the diapers you bought had not been stripped in a long time, if ever. I don't know about the boiling thing, but it seems like it would work. Otherwise I would to a couple of hot loads with extra water and maybe some dawn or vinegar.

I've done my flips, don't have GB. I would boil for 5-10, drain, rinse and repeat than wash.

Re: Boiling to strip?

I usually boil for about 10 minutes with a squirt of Dawn, then another 10 minutes in clean water. Then throw em in for a hot cycle with bleach. Works for me.

Re: Boiling to strip?

The GB inserts have snaps so I don't know if I would boil them (might warp them), but the flips should be fine...
