Re: Holy Dye Batman! Dylon LWI - dye galore!

GORGEOUS! The only drawback I have seen with Dylon, is that all my prefolds dyed with it have faded a lot, whereas the ones I used the Tye-Dye kits on do not fade much. BUT- that is with cotton diapers, which are washed on hot a zillion times!
I love the colors you used in the first one- so rich and yummy.

Hmmmm, I think with the Dylon it won't take well. The fabric needs to be mostly natural fibers and I believe some one mentioned that it needed to be at least 60% natural. It might turn out like the MF insert....

Me too!!! I keep wondering what to dye next and thankfully my aunt came to the rescue with a sweatshirt she loves but her granddaughter spilled coffee all over - so that's next!

I am going to be trying out some Procion here soon because I want to make myself some bamboo prefolds and I'm worried about fade with Dylon and hot water. But I think Dylon will always be my first love. So easy, so pretty, so addicting....

Thanks so much - that's exactly what I was thinking!! I know that washing on cold helps to maintain the color and so blankets, etc. should be fine. But I was wanting to make some prefolds but I know I wash the HECK out of my diapers on hot so.... time to learn some Procion! Hehe.

But I'm not through with Dylon yet!

The bag and gdiapers are truuly awesome! I am getting some prefold for inserts soon. Maybe I'll have to practice on them. I'd love to get some Cotton velour to dye as well.

Maybe some toddler t-shirt too for night night.

Re: Holy Dye Batman! Dylon LWI - dye galore!

just finished up two dye jobs!! both are bamboo fleece which took the dye way different than velour does.

first is "fire" and was made into unpaper towels and napkins

second is "earth" which was made into unpaper towels

thanks mama!! i love the fire ones too!! i made some into tissues for the kids and unpaper towels for the kitchen. the rest of it is sitting instock on my cart waiting for someone else to rub their face in it i was really happy with the color grading that the fleece gave me!! it's even brighter and more pronounced in person than on the screen

Re: Holy Dye Batman! Dylon LWI - dye galore!

Okay, so I dyed my first project up yesterday. Nothing as vibrant or spectacular, but I just wanted to dabble a little before committing a larger piece of fabric. I used 1/3 of a Dylon packet and I could have done at least 1 more of these, but here it is:

It is a onesize hybird flat I've been working on. The outer is french terry Bamboo.
