Thank you!

The purple/green is going to be paired with GHMILY fabric for a blanket for my DD.
The red/yellow/blue will be paired with Golden Books character fabric for a blanket for my DS.

I know I didn't use enough dye on the second one, but I hate how much they faded! So... I'm going to order Procion Dyes. Jenn, have you ventured into these yet? Any suggestions? I'd also love it if someone could point me in the right direction for a tute for those swirly patterns I've seen around....
TIA!
WOW - I know you said the colors faded but I think they both look awesome!! (Although I'm sure the pink is a disappointment if you were hoping for red. )

Shortly after my ventures into dyeing with Dylon, I moved on to Procion. I didn't like the limited color selection from Dylon and I wanted something that I would have more creative control over - as well as use professional dyes so that there would be NO fading as I have heard can occur with Dylon (esp. if the items dyed are going to be washed on hot or washed often).

So the short answer is yep, I've ventured into Procion. I LOVE it. It's a lot of fun but it does require a lot of materials. I purchase all my goodies at Dharma Trading Co. (check out their website) and have always received my stuff in a very timely manner. You'll need the dyes, Synathropol or some other detergent that will wash the fabrics after dyeing but prevent color transfer, soda ash for fixing the dye into the fabric (Permanent Dylon has the soda ash already added to the dyes), and possibly urea and water softener. Also - very important - gloves and a dust mask. Since you'll be mixing the dyes up and playing with the powders and soda ash, a dust mask it a nice piece of equipment to have.

If you'd like to learn to swirl dye, check out the tutorial from Pam of The Indigo Onion. I believe it's listed on Dharma's website. It's how I learned to swirl dye and it takes a lot of trial and error but the result is fantastic.

Good luck mama - let us know how you like Procion!!! I do love what you did with the Dylon though. Going onto the first post!

Just found this thread! Jenn you are an inspiration!!! So just out of curiousity, were you Takara baby before this venture into LWI-land? or did this just evolve for you?
Its really inspiring, it seems in just a short amount of time, around a year correct? You've become really well known!
In fact, I purchased some pocket gnomes from Bright Life toys and I think she said some of her fabrics were dyed by you!
