Hey Alley! Here's a couple pics - hope this explains it better!

Started out with some prewashed OBV (about 1 yard, plus a 15x17" cut for a lovey):

Even though it was the same weight as the CV I dyed blue and green, there was definitely more fabric, so it got scrunched more tightly in the tub:

To explain it, imagine laying it out flat and then making it smaller by grabbing handfuls in the middle and scrunching them together. That's basically what I did. Does that make sense?

Re: Holy Dye Batman! I'm hooked...Dylon LWI - I'll show you mine if you show me your

Alright so I did 4-color dye job. The colors were chosen by a mama who likes the LWI look and likes these particular four colors. I wasn't sure about doing them all together but since this was an experiment anyway... why not? Right?

The colors:

As you can see, I'm using a refrigerator storage drawer. This was a large piece of fabric, about 2 yards of OBV.

Anyway, here's the end result:

I'm not sure how I feel about it. When I first saw it, I just felt relieved that it wasn't all brown (blue + orange ya know?). But as I'm not a HUGE orange fan, I feel like it's overwhelming. Of course, most of it is on the edges and those will disappear when it gets made into something but for now, it's almost all I can see. LOL. As I said, the color combos weren't my idea (I think I would have gone with yellow as opposed to orange) but they intrigued me. Maybe it needs more green - the green seems to have been overwhelmed by the blue.

How do you feel about it? Should this 4-color experiment also turn into a "re-dye" experiment??

I actually see 5 colors, purple is in there because of the pink & blue, I guess? I think you're right on needing to replace the orange with yellow, but it did make for a nice first 4 color dye job! I would reconsider the number and cut it back to 3 colors since you got an extra one with the mixing. It is pretty though! I would like to see it in a project. You are adventurous!

I also wanted to say that orange and pink together are not my fave mix, but I would like to see a mix with lots of blue, green & purple, also some yellow!

I like it! Its .... psychadelic!

Im not sure how brave I am...maybe I will just dive in and dye my moby without testing it out first. I dont really have anything else I want to dye.

It's definitely psychedelic. Hehe. I posted some better pictures taken in the light - the others were too dark. I think I like Dylon for 2 color combos... maaybe 3 if the right ones are chosen (hubby and I are thinking of working on that tonight). 4 contrasting colors might be a bit much. Of course, maybe if our technique were different... We did the pink and orange first - regular strength - and let it sit for an hour. Then drained the excess. Added the blue and green but stronger (1/2 amount of water, same amount of dye). Let sit for an hour. Then rinsed. Interesting that the green came out weaker (IMO) and the blue came out so strong.
