Re: Midwife or OB?

I have a female OB who I really like, I've seen her with all three pg's. She does like to induce, but now she's got better reasons to with me at least, but I found that I needed a specialist during my pregnancies so that I wouldn't go nuts! Of all 4 doctors I saw with my first pg, she was the only one who saw there was a problem and investigated it, so I really trust her! But that said I wouldn't mind trying out a midwife next time around! lol! We have a van so I have room for three more lol!

Re: Midwife or OB?

I saw an ob through all my pg's til this one. When I found out I was pg, I called to make an appt and found out she had moved to Canada! I had already been tossing around the idea of using a midwife, since many of my friends do. So I went ahead and made an appt. I am not doing a homebirth (not ready for that!) but I am planning on using the birth center and possibly a water birth if it works out that way. I guess I can't really give an opinion til I'm on the other side, but so far I love making all my own choices about my care during the pregnancy, and for the baby during and after birth.

Just as a backup, we did call the maternity ward at the hospital to find out what our options were as far as declining anything we don't want. The head nurse told us NOTHING is mandatory, but everything is routine, so if we don't want something we need to bring a letter and make sure everyone knows about it. So that makes me feel better if something happens that we end up at the hospital! Just thought I'd share, as you don't have to just go with the flow at the hospital. Some states do have mandatory laws, but most you can opt out of even though they might frown on it.
