Getting info now :)
With my DD I was only able to bf her for 2 weeks before my supply was gone (due to stress I was told since I was just starting back to school the following week and was stressed over not being able to pump enough for the babysitters since it was 5 nights a week). Anyway, I really want to be able to make bfing the new bug a success. My problem has always been (especially with my DS) of my milk just not coming in
I had tried dry pumping after they fed and I just wouldn't get anything. Sooo, any suggestions mamas? Is there anything I can take or anything I can do once the baby bug is hear to help boost the supply and make it actually stay? I won't have the school stress since I've held off until my DD is at least in school so I'll pretty much be stress free as a mom of 3 can get TIA mamas!!

Re: Getting info now :)
Well, there's all the regular stuff: Mother's Milk tea, oatmeal (the real stuff, not instant), lots of water, fenugreek, blessed thistle, and of course lots and lots of nursing time.
I wound up needing more though, and Domperidone has been a lifesaver. I would not have been able to continue b****** without it.

Yeah to everything Samantha said.
Hopefully without school though, you will not have any problems. Just nurse, nurse, nurse. It took my milk about 5 days to come in. A couple more to be completely in and not mixed with colostrum. It was horrible the first week though. I just nursed constantly. GL!

Re: Getting info now :)
mama! I've been there and worked through it! ... I started grad school 1 1/2 weeks after my dd was born in August. She's now 6 mo and we're still going strong..so I know you can do it! ... The most important key (I think anyways LOL) is to nurse LOTS the first couple of days ... and relax and get lots of sleep (cosleep lots! LOL) ... I think the first 4 days or so, dd was pretty much on my boobies every hour. It totally wrecked my nips, but it def. brought in my milk. GL mama!!!

I would just try to nurse, nurse, nurse as much as you can with the new baby! That would definitley help with your supply!

Nurse all the time and don't supplement. That just makes your body think it doesn't need to make the milk. I can't hardly pump either. I can't seem to get a let down. You can't let that scare you though becasuse the baby is MUCH better at getting milk than you are!! Good luck!

Re: Getting info now :)
find a good lc in your area now to help you w/latch issues and other support.
a private consultation was $80 for the first time - think about how much formula $80 would buy you (not much)

Re: Getting info now :)
Good for you to get info now!!!
I had a horrible time with milk supply with DD and tried a lot of the 'traditional herbals'. Unfortunetly my supply never really got fully establish dispite my marathon best efforts. Out of everything I tried the Motherlove tincture did the best for me. The website is http://www.motherlove.com/ and they have some really awesome testimonals to read. I purch mine through a website...hmmm I think it was luckyvitimins. I'll google now to double check. Here's the linky http://www.luckyvitamin.com/ HTH! |
