Sorry to hear this, but please don't think that all co sleepers are horrible parents. It sounds like your cousin had issues to begin with and I wish her lots of strength with dealing with this tragedy.

Yeah that. Cosleeping has been done for many many years in many cultures....long before the "crib" or "cradle." There are many benefits to cosleeping that cribbing doesn't have, and there are risks in everything we do with our children.

I am sorry for this terrible tragedy.

Re: Why I think cosleeping is rediculous!

I'm so sorry for your family. I'll keep you in my thoughts.
DD sleeps in my bed but she didnt start until she was one. Before that she was in my room, but never in my bed. Yeah, it would have been convenient to bf lying down, but I lost a brother to SIDS and stuff like that scares the heck out of me. Our next babe will be in a basinnet in the beginning as well

While I'm deeply saddened for your family's loss, I think your opinion is based on fear and saddness, not education. Thousands and thousands of babies co-sleep with their parents at some point in their infantcy. Very few die without some other "high risk" behavior such as drugs/alcohol, etc. Founds a very informative site, I know it won't help you or change your sadness, but it may help you understand more about co-sleeping and it's safety.
