Re: Has your circ'd son had any complications, major or minor?

my son didnt have any problems.
my brother tho had an adhesion that caused a "bridge" from the head to the shaft that he said he could stick his pinky finger under. he had to have it removed in his early 20's. my mom is very nieve about a ton of things, so i imagine thats why she didnt have it fixed when he was a baby (she thought he was deformed when he was born b/c she didnt know that boys werent born circed, she didnt even know the term! lol)

This is what I was told...but now I am getting other opinions here...

My brother didn't have issues until about a year ago. His boy parts were always exceptionally tiny though, we just figured it would grow eventually. But when he got older and puberty began, he ended up having to be rushed to the ER one night because his penis hurt and was turning blue. Turns out during his circ as an infact, a band of some kind formed that didn't allow his penis to grow! And it finally just got too tight! He had to have emergency sugery that night and they said if my parents had waited until the morning to get him in, he'd have lost his penis! So scary! AND on top of all that, just 2 months ago he had to have ANOTHER sugery for a completely unrelated reason (unrelated to the first issue that is)! His little pee hole was fusing and he couldn't get urine out. They had to go in and widen it. He's doing okay now and we're praying all his issues are over.

My nephew was just circ'd too tight. As a little boy, when he'd get erections, he's scream and cry because it hurt so bad. They can't do anything for that I don't think, and now that he's bigger I have no idea if it still happens or not, but I'd assume so. I just have no idea what he's going to do eventually... obviously that's a huge issue re: relationships if it doesn't fix itself and I can't imagine that it could.
I assume he could do stretching exercises to help pull more skin down. Like the guys who do restoration. It would probably take longer if he is that short on skin but he may have to do it just so he can have normal function. The Dr.'s have told my brother dn may need reconstructive surgery and skin grafting to make everything "right" down there. I think the start of it was his circ being far to tight, but now there are more problems from the adhessions and having had hidden penis for so long.

That's why I made DH do all the diaper changes for the week or so until healed.

The only instructions they gave me was that every time I changed his dipe to put a thick coat of vaseline and cover with a cloth bandaid (not sure of the correct term ) and I did just that without ever having one issue with recovery and no issue at all after. I am just wondering now if I was told wrong...
Thats what they told me with ds as well. They never mentioned anything about retracting at all. DS now has adhesions, which I consider to be a minor complication since they do not interfere with any of his bodily functions... yet.

We didn't have any complications. Our family practice Dr. did the Circ. I think sometimes why things go wrong is not having someone experienced do it. Residents do it and some don't have much practice at all and others may just not do it well.

I voted "No complications" but you can times that by 3. All my boys had the plastibell done by the same dr. We have never had any issues with adhesions or anything like that. I have also never been instructed by any of peds to do anything special with their penises to keep from getting adhesions or anything like that? (One ped at the hospital performed all the procedures, we had another one as our regular dr, but recently switched to someone else.)

Re: Has your circ'd son had any complications, major or minor?

My ods had adhesions. I do consider that a minor complication, because while it was not serious or life threatening, it still caused him pain and it bled. The circumcision in itself was horrible enough, but to have that continuous pain for months after, that killed me. His skin grew back together, then ripped apart several times.

My yds is intact. No problems at all there

eta- I definatly consider your son's initial circ experience to be a serious complication and kind of the "worst case scenerio" risk aside from death but I believe bleeding afterwards is the cause when that rare death occurs. I'm sorry you haven't had the bext experience with this.
Both adhesions and buried penis are both complications of circumcism.

Thankfully, no complications for us, DS is 3 months old now.
