laundry product questions

OK, please forgive me, I *know* these answers are out there. But I'm too short on time to try to find them! (I'm trying to pack for the hospital!)

Please take a look at what laundry products I'm planning to use and give me your opinion, advice, suggestions.

FYI -- My diaper stash is prefolds, contours, fitteds, fleece and pul covers, and AIO's.

All Free and Clear? I've been hearing bad stuff, what's the deal?

For dry pail -- Arm & Hammer Baking Soda

For funk -- Borax and/or vinegar

For stains -- Oxy Clean, Simple Green, Shout

TIA, Christine

NO Shout, Borax--

Stick with natural products---

Melaleuca
7th Generation
Allens Naturally
TTO
Baking Soda
Vinager
Good ole Sunshine
Even use Dixie Drops or Baby Bits(@ 5 per load-in juntion with baking soda and vinager)

Re: laundry product questions

Well I use 7th generation baby, it is supposed to be bad for causing buildup but I have yet to have a problem and it is the only one that hasn't made my DS skin problems worse. I like to use baking soda and vinegar too for odors I think Borax might be a bit harsh. I like using the sun for removing stains.

Congrats on your little one on the way !!!!

Like the pp said, nothing harsh!!'

a tiny bit of Allens Naturally to wash & the sun outside to bleach work great for us!! I have also heard that Sun Detergent is safe for diapers.

Here's a link with some really interesting info:
http://www.mothering.com/discussions...hlight=ws%2Fsg

I use washing soda and Simple Green (~1/4 cup of washing soda and 3-4 spritzes of Simple Green) and haven't had any problems at all. Good luck and Congratulations!!

Re: laundry product questions

I mainly wash all my dipes w/just a squirt of Dawn (dish detergent) and some drops of TTO. From time to time I add a little baking soda but that's about it. I never had any probs w/buildup or anything.

Congrats, btw!

PLEASE stay away from Oxi Clean if you have any hemp or natural fibers! I believe it's what ruined mine!

In Christ, Bridget

BTW/we like to use Sun Detergent. Works great and cheap.

Re: laundry product questions

Thanks for the link to the detergents! I couldn't find Borax on the list. Is there a reason it's not good? I'm finding it an excellent product, but I don't want to use it if it'll cause harm....
